Steps Involved In Taking Left or Right Turns

  • You want to turn right into the next side street.  First, indicate. Check mirrors.  Select second gear in a manual, or slow to approximately 20km/h in an automatic, and prepare to turn right. Be prepared to stop if necessary. On-coming vehicles should be at least 3 seconds from the intersection. Wait for a safe gap. Check your right side blind spot over your shoulder as you turn. Once you’ve completed the turn, check your mirrors and resume your position in the centre of the lane.

  • Approaching an intersection, you intend to turn left. Check your course and make adjustments, moving to the left of the road. Check your mirrors and indicate approximately 30m before the turn.
